PREMIER AWARD WINNERS
CONNECTEDWORLD.TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award is designed to recognise the individual who has made the most significant or unexpected impact on the connected content scene during the past year. Readers of ConnectedWorld.TV were invited to submit their nominations. Nominees could be a vocal evangelist for the concept of 'Content Everywhere', a thought leader from the broadcast, digital media or telecommunications industries, or even an independent content creator whose work has gone viral. A shortlist of six nominees was put to a vote on ConnectedWorld.TV during August 2011.
Winner: Mark Zuckerberg CEO, President and co-founder, Facebook
Facebook was already a growing influence in the online video world by allowing its users to share content socially. During 2011, Facebook made major strides to position itself as a distribution platform for professionally-produce content.

CONNECTEDWORLD.TV BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR
The Connected World.TV Broadcaster of the Year is the broadcaster considered by the judges to have done most to advance the concept of 'content everywhere' by demonstrating a clear vision of how the Connected World can complement traditional broadcast distribution.
Winner: NHK WORLD (Japan)
As the sole Japanese public service broadcaster, through its 3-Screens Policy, NHK is committed to offer its service "anytime, anywhere, on any device" to its international as well as domestic audiences. NHK WORLD Internet Service offers live streaming of NHK WORLD TV, NHK's English-language international television service 24/7 and simultaneously with its television broadcasts. It also offers on-demand viewing of many news items. Demand grew dramatically around the world after the East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11th 2011.
What the judges said:
"The NHK and BBC often lead their colleagues in both innovation and service quality and while there is little to separate these two great public broadcasters there is no question that NHK's worldwide distribution of earthquake information that was consistently of quality and humanity gives it the edge for this year's award."
"NHK are an organisation, who demonstrate well the social role and responsbility of a public broadcaster, combined with innovation and creativity to deliver 24/7, multi platform, exceptional news content to both domestic and international audiences. To be commended for their coverage of the Tsunami and the timely manner in which this was broadcast worldwide."
"A dramatic global entry for NHK, showing how to get a news channel out into a crowded marketplace."
"NHK World: Innovation and strength through extreme adversity."
