The Judges

Judges for the 2012 ConnectedWorld.TV Awards include experts drawn from across the television and content sectors.


 

Alpesh Doshi is a founder of Fintricity and has worked in business focussed technology projects over the past 17 years. His experience with using internet technologies stems back to 1996 where he worked on one of the first web projects within a major bank. His focus is on helping clients deliver business driven solutions to technology.


 

Chris Forrester is a journalist and industry consultant who reports on all aspects of broadcasting with special emphasis on content, the business of television and emerging applications such as interactive multi-media and the growing importance of web-streamed digitised content over broadband and mobile. His journalism can be read daily on the popular Advanced-Television.com site.


 

Colin Dixon brings a wealth of knowledge on the Digital TV, Over-the-Top and IPTV spaces to The Diffusion Group where he is Senior Partner Advisory. Over the last 15 years he has held senior executive positions at Microsoft/WebTV, Liberate and Oracledelivering products and services to the Cable, Satellite and IPTV industries. Colin is the author of many reports and opinion pieces including Broadband-Enabled TV: Rise of the OTT Provider and The Economics of Over-the-Top TV Delivery-How Television Networks Can Shift to Online Content Delivery.


 

Michael McEwen has long experience in the broadcast industry having spent more than 25 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, in journalism, production and executive management roles. He is a former Secretary General of the North America Broadcasters Association, President of the World Digital Audio Broadcast Forum, and President of Canadian Digital Television where he led the transition to HD digital TV. He is currently Chairman of Media Asset Capital Ltd.


 

Graham NealeGraham Neale is a non-executive director of Mylnefield Research Services. For more than 30 years, Graham held a series of senior positions within GlaxoSmithKline where he acquired wide-ranging experience and insight across brand marketing, innovation, sales, manufacturing, distribution and public affairs in personal care, over-the-counter medicines and nutritional healthcare businesses around the world.

Amongst a number of other business interests, Graham is a member of the Executive Committee of UNESDA, the European non-alcoholic beverages association and a consultant to GlaxoSmithKline. 


 

Neil Nixon is managing editor of the online portal ConnectedWorld.TV and editor of IBE. Prior to taking up the reins at IBE, Neil was editorial director of the Amsterdam RAI's UK publishing company and previously worked as a news reporter on The Times newspaper in London. Neil chairs the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards judging panel. 


Joe O'halloranJoe O'Halloran holds Master's degrees in Computer Aided Engineering and Analysis and Microwaves and Modern Optics and a BSc in Mathematics and Physics and initially worked as an engineer in a large corporation. He embarked on a career as a writer and consultant more than 20 years ago and has written extensively on the IT, broadcasting, CGI, telecoms and design sectors. As editor of Content2Mobile, Joe has reported on the latest developments in mobile video and TV and also regularly contributes to IBE, Cable & Satellite Europe, CSI, IPTV, Infosecurity Today, Microscope, TVB Europe, Future Digital and RapidTV News. 


 

Ronan de RenesseRonan De Renesse is the lead analyst for Analysys Mason's Mobile Content and Applications and Mobile Broadband programmes. His primary areas of specialisation include rich media applications and services on mobile, application store forecasting, mobile broadband, tablets and smartphone adoption.

Ronan holds a PhD in Telecommunications from King's College London." 


 

Steven Hawley is Principal Analyst and Consultant for tvstrategies at AdvancedMedia Strategies LLC.  Since 2001, he has worked with service providers, suppliers of TV technologies and professional services, and with leading industry analyst firms; contributing in areas that include intellectual property, business and product strategy, business modeling, product definition and roadmap, technology category analysis, and infrastructure selection.
